FlowState Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
FlowState helps you block distracting apps and websites on your iPhone and iPad. It's made by Yagiz Ada Umur ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use FlowState.
The short version
- FlowState doesn't collect personal data. There are no accounts, servers, analytics, ads or tracking.
- Everything you set up in the app stays on your device.
- Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details.
What stays on your device
FlowState keeps the following only on your device:
- Your block groups, schedules, daily limits and settings.
- Your focus sessions and the stats built from them, such as your streak, totals and insights.
- The apps, categories and websites you choose to block. iOS gives these to FlowState as encrypted tokens. The app can show them to you, but it can't read which apps or websites they are, and neither can we.
- If you use Tag to unlock: the identifier of the NFC tag you register and the name you give it. FlowState reads a tag only when you scan it in the app.
None of this is sent to us or anyone else. FlowState itself makes no network connections. The only online part is buying Pro, which Apple handles.
Screen Time
FlowState uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks to block apps and websites and to show your screen-time stats.
- Blocking is done by iOS, on your device.
- The screen-time numbers you see in FlowState, such as screen time, pickups and most-used apps, are calculated and shown by an extension that Apple keeps sealed off. They never leave your device, and FlowState can't read, store or export them.
- We can't see your browsing history, messages, app content or usage.
- Screen Time data is used only to provide FlowState's features. It is never used for advertising, and never shared or sold.
You can turn off FlowState's Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings under Screen Time. This removes all of FlowState's blocks.
Notifications, Live Activities, widgets and Shortcuts
If you allow notifications, FlowState schedules them on your device, for example when a session ends or for your weekly recap. Live Activities, widgets and Shortcuts show your session information on your Lock Screen and Home Screen. That information is shared only between FlowState and its own extensions, on your device.
Purchases
FlowState Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and manages your subscription. We don't receive your name, email address, Apple ID or payment details; Apple gives us only anonymous, aggregated sales reports. Apple's handling of your data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Information Apple may share with us
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us crash reports and anonymous usage statistics, such as the number of installs or crashes. This comes from Apple, contains no personal data, and is used only to fix problems and improve FlowState. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Backups and deleting your data
FlowState's data can be included in your device's iCloud or computer backups, depending on your backup settings. Apple handles those backups, not us.
Because your data lives only on your device, deleting FlowState removes all of its data and all of its blocks. Backups are kept until you delete them.
Children
FlowState doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
We don't collect, hold, sell or share personal information, so there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. If you have questions about your rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA, contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how FlowState handles information, we'll update this page and the date above. If a change would mean collecting any data, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
